Casper broke a 2 year drought in the State Wrestling Tournament at the Events with an individual champion on Saturday at the Events Center. Natrona's Brett Brenton won the title at 138 pounds over Trevor Jefferies. Brenton was leading the match 4-2 when Jefferies retired from the match with a shoulder injury. Brenton finished the season with a record of 44-3. NC wrestler Keegan Berry lost a tough match at 170 pounds to Carless Looney from Laramie 3-2. The Mustangs finished 8th in 4A. Kelly Walsh took 12th in the meet with Gabe Baldwin losing in the state championship match to Zach Taylor of Gillette. In 3A, Glenrock posted their best finish in the history of the school by taking 4th. The Herders come up with 3 state champions in the first 3 weights of the night. Joe Taylor at 106 beat Wyatt Guty of Wheatland 4-0. Tate Stoddard took the gold at 113 pounds with a 7-6 win over Gavin Patterson of Star Valley. Jackson Taylor at 126 pounds was a repeat state champion thanks to a 7-2 decision over Hunter Elmer of Buffalo.
