Air Force Upsets Cowboys 57-48 Saturday-Daily Sports Update

The Wyoming Cowboys lost to Air Force Saturday night at the AA in Laramie 57-48. The Cowboys shot just 33 percent from the field and were just 5 of 28 from three point land. Those percentages will result in defeat just about every time. Leonard Washington had 19 points and Derious Gilmore had 15 points. Wyoming falls to 2-4 in the Mountain West Conference and 15-4 overall. They will host New Mexico on Wednesday night.

The Wyoming Cowgirls beat Air Force on the road Saturday 86-48. Kaitlyn Mileto led the Cowgirls with 27 points With the win UW moves their record to 4-2 in the Mountain West Conference and 15-4 overall. The Cowgirls will at New Mexico Wednesday night.

In junior college basketball, both Casper College teams lost their homecoming games to  Western Nebraska on Saturday at Erickson Gym. In the men’s game, the T-Birds came up short 88-81. Western Nebraska took 25 less shots than the T-Birds and hit 50 percent. Casper got 30 points from Dominique Lee and 23 points from Remi Debo. The T-Birds have now lost three straight and drop to 15-6 overall. They will host Western Wyoming on Wednesday night.

The Casper College  Lady T-Birds also lost their third straight on Saturday, a 56-50 decision to Western Nebraska. The T-Birds shot just 33 percent from the floor. Shelby Garska (Natrona) was the only T-Bird in double-digit scoring with 14. The T-Birds are 16-5 on the season and host Western Wyoming on Wednesday night. Both games can be heard on AM 1400 ESPN.

High School Basketball from Saturday. The Kelly Walsh boys pulled the upset special of they day  with a 37-32 win at Riverton over the 2nd ranked Wolverines. The Trojans with the win even their 4A Western Conference record at 2-2 and 8-9 overall. The Natrona Mustangs bounced back after losing to Riverton Thursday night and beat Rock Springs 67-49. NC evens their record in the conference to 2-2 and 6-9 overall.

On the girls side both Kelly Walsh and Natrona picked up wins on the road. The Fillies beat Rock Springs 58-28. The Lady Tigers held the Fillies Kayleen Johnson to just 7 points  but NC was able to knock down 9 three pointers. The Fillies are 13-2 overall and sit atop of the 4A West Conference with a 4-0 record. The Lady Trojans won an exciting 51-48 thriller over Riverton in triple overtime. The Lady Trojans are 3-13 overall and 3-1 in conference.

Kelly Walsh and Natrona will play the first of their two match ups this Thursday night at the Casper Events Center. The girls game will tip-off at 6:15pm with the boys following at around 8:00. Both games on AM 1400 ESPN.
