Alabama avenged their only loss of the year by beating LSU 21-0 to win the BCS National Championship Monday night in New Orleans. The Crimson Tide captured their 2nd national title in 3 years.The Crimson Tide defense was terrific holding LSU to just 92 yards of total offense. Jeremy Shelly kicked 5 field goals for the Tide.

Men's college basketball from Monday night as the Wyoming Cowboys improved to 14-2 as they swamped Idaho State at the AA in Laramie 73-49. Luke Martinez threw in 23 points for the Pokes on 6 of 6 shooting from the field including 5 of 5 from beyond the arc. The Cowboys have beaten Idaho State twice this season. The Mountain West Conference opens up for Wyoming Saturday afternoon as they host preseason favorite New Mexico.

The Wyoming Cowboy football team have 4 scholarship players that have left the team. One of them is back-up quarterback Adam Pittser. With Brent Smith entrenched as the starter, it would be hard for Pittser to see the field at the quarterback spot barring injury. The surprise non-returnee is receiver Josh Doctson. The freshman played in 11 games, had 35 receptions for 393 yards and 5 touchdowns, including 1 in the New Mexico Bowl and 2 against Colorado State. The 2 other freshmen receivers will also be leaving. C.J. Morgan and Kevin Robertson. Also Receiver Jonathan Aiken was ruled academically ineligible and will not return. He played in 6 games in 2010 and red shirted in 2011.

In the NFL, the Denver Broncos are getting ready for the 2nd round of the playoffs as they'll travel to New England on Saturday night. The Broncos (9-8) are coming their stunning 29-23 overtime win over Pittsburgh Sunday. The Patriots (13-3) received a first round bye with the number 1 seed in the AFC.
