Josh Allen threw for a career-high four touchdowns and ran for another to help the Wyoming Cowboys beat Utah State 52-28 in Laramie Saturday night.

Allen connected with Tanner Gentry on TD passes of 25 and 46 yards in the first half. He threw a 15-yarder to Jake Maulhardt in the first half, as well. His final TD toss was a 37 strike to Jacob Hollister in the third quarter. Allen’s rushing touchdown was a 1-yard QB sneak in the first half.

Brian Hill ran for 142 yards and two touchdowns. His 56-yarder made it 14-0 UW nine minutes into the game. Hill added a 15-yard TD with 5:27 left. It was the sixth time Hill has run for over 100 yards this season and 17th in his career.

Wyoming (7-2, 5-0) built a 35-7 lead by halftime. Utah State rallied with three straight touchdowns and pulled within 35-28 with 5:20 left in the third quarter.

The Cowboys responded with a quick TD. Allen broke loose for a season-long 38-yard run, and then on the next play scrambled to his right to find Hollister wide open for the score. UW put the last 17 points on the board.

The Pokes out-gained the Aggies 528-to-414 in total offense. Wyoming’s defense came up with three sacks, six tackles for loss, a fumble recovery and an interception. The Cowboys had 10 pass break-ups in the game, as well. Rico Gafford led the way with eight solo tackles, a forced fumble and two pass break-ups.

Utah State (3-6, 1-5) was led by back-up QB Damion Hobbs three touchdown runs. Kent Myers threw for 235 yards and a score.

The 52 points scored are the most under head coach Craig Bohl in his three years.

With five straight wins, this is longest win streak for the Pokes since 1998. The victory also snapped a four-game skid against the Aggies.

Wyoming returns to action next Saturday, Nov. 12 with a game at UNLV. Kick-off is at 1:30 p.m.
