The Houston Astros scored 3 runs in the 9th inning, thanks to a home run from Carlos Pena in beating the Colorado Rockies 6-3 on Wednesday night at Coors Field. The Astros won despite striking out 12 times. Troy Tulowitski hit 2 home runs for the Rockies. The two teams wrap up their series this evening in Denver.

The Casper Cutthroats collegiate baseball team will open the season at home Friday night at Lansing Field, taking on the Cheyenne Grizzlies. The Cutthroats had a successful inaugural season a year ago taking 2nd place in the Mountain Collegiate Baseball League and did fairly well at the gate. The team will have several returning players, like pitcher Josh Freeman, outfielder Brandon Crutcher, as well as Blake Coffman, Thomas Lundborg, Kendall Fay and Austin Rue. The Cutthroats start the season with the 4-game home stand with Cheyenne Friday through Monday.

The Denver Broncos have signed free agent defensive back Quinton Jammer. Jammer is a 12-year pro who played the last 11 years with San Diego. Since 2003, he has missed just 3 starts and has 21 career interceptions.

In the Stanley Cup Playoffs in hockey, Chicago advanced to the Western Conference Finals beating Detroit 2-1 in overtime to win the 7th deciding game of that series. Chicago plays defending Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles in the Western Conference finals. Pittsburgh meets Boston in the Eastern Conference finals.

The NBA playoffs continue tonight as Miami will host game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals with Indiana with the series even at 2 games apiece.
