UNDATED (AP) — The Chicago Blackhawks can tie an NHL record when they host the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday.

The Hawks improved to 12-0-3 on Sunday as Brent Seabrook and Jonathan Toews (tayvz) each had a goal and an assist while Chicago built a 3-0 lead in a 3-2 win over Los Angeles. Patrick Sharp also tallied for the Blackhawks, who matched the 1984-85 Edmonton Oilers for the second-longest season-opening points streak in league history. The current record-holder is the 2006-07 Anaheim Ducks, who opened 12-0-4 on their way to a Stanley Cup title.

Chicago now leads the Western Conference by four points over the Ducks.

The Pittsburgh Penguins blew a 2-0 lead before moving to the top of the NHL's Eastern Conference standings.

Paul Martin's goal with 2:04 remaining gave the Pens their third straight win, a 4-3 triumph at Buffalo. The Penguins scored twice in the first 87 seconds but fell behind 3-2 in the third period before Pascal Dupuis (doo-PWEE') tied it with his second goal of the game. Dupuis also assisted on the game-winner as the Pens won for the eighth time in 10 games and improved to 11-5-0, one point ahead of New Jersey.

Elsewhere in the NHL, Boston beat Winnipeg 3-2 on Brad Marchand's goal 36 seconds into the third period. Tyler Seguin (SAY'-gin) and Daniel Paille (PY'-ay) also scored, and Patrice Bergeron had two assists as the Bruins improved to 9-2-2.

Derek Stepan (STEP'-ahn) scored on a power play early in the third period to break a tie in the New York Rangers' 2-1 win over Washington. Henrik Lundvist stopped 27 shots and was perfect after John Carlson scored 79 seconds into the game.

Dany Heatley, Jason Zucker and Torrey Mitchell all scored in the second period to rally Minnesota over the Detroit Red Wings 3-2. Heatley snapped his nine-game scoring drought in helping the Wild win in regulation for the first time since Jan. 29.

Calgary trailed 3-1 in the third period until three Flames scored their first goal of the season in a 4-3 comeback against Dallas. Goals by Steve Begin (bay-zhehn), Matt Stajan (STAY'-jehn) and Roman Horak sent the Flames to their second victory over the Stars in five days.
