Blackhawks Tie Record – NHL News And Scores For February 20th

UNDATED (AP) — The Chicago Blackhawks coughed up a 3-1 lead in the last three minutes of regulation Tuesday night, but they still managed to tie the NHL record for points in consecutive games to start a season.

Patrick Kane and Andrew Shaw scored in a shootout as the Blackhawks outlasted Vancouver 4-3 to improve to 13-0-3. The 16-game point streak matches the mark set by the 2006-07 Anaheim Ducks.

Marian Hossa (HOH'-sah) scored twice in the second period after Patrick Sharp knotted the score a few minutes earlier. However, Hossa left the game in the third period after taking a forearm to the back of the head.

Henrik Sedin (she-DEEN') set up goals by Alexander Edler and Kevin Bieksa (bee-EHK'-suh) to force overtime, but the Canucks suffered their third consecutive loss since a six-game winning streak.

Also on ice, Montreal has a five-game winning streak after scoring twice in the third period to beat the New York Rangers 3-1. Alex Galchenyuk snapped a 1-1 deadlock early in the final period to support Carey Price, who finished with 24 saves.

Antti Niemi (AN'-tee nee-EH'-mee) scored 25 shots and Tim Kennedy scored the tiebreaking goal as San Jose nipped St. Louis 2-1, ending the Sharks' seven-game winless streak. Kennedy tallied with 6:58 left against Jake Allen, who had won the first three starts of his career.

Shea Weber scored 44 seconds into overtime as Nashville handed Detroit its fourth straight loss, 4-3. The Predators blew a pair of one-goal leads in the third period before Weber tallied on the lone shot of the extra session.

Jeff Carter scored the tiebreaking goal with just 50 seconds left before Los Angeles completed a 3-1 win over Edmonton. Jonathon Quick turned back 23 shots and was perfect over the last two periods.

Benoit Pouliot (POO'-lee-oh) set up three goals and Anders Lindback stopped 23 shots as Tampa Bay doubled up Toronto 4-2. Steven Stamkos notched his 10th goal of the season and Alex Killorn provided the game-winner in the Lightning's second straight victory since a six-game slide.

Andre Benoit (BEHN'-wah) and Dave Dziurzynski (zur-ZIHN'-zkee) each scored their first NHL goals in Ottawa's 3-1 triumph over the New York Islanders. Craig Anderson stopped 37 shots and was perfect until Travis Hamonic (HAM'-uh-nik) scored to make it 2-1 in the third period.

Andrej Pavelec (AHN'-dray PAHV'-lehk) stopped 29 shots and Winnipeg ended a three-game skid by downing the Sabres 2-1 in Buffalo. Bryan Little and Andrew Ladd did the scoring for the Jets in their third victory in 10 games.
