In an attempt to compete with sports-broadcasting behemoth ESPN, Fox Sports will launch its own network, called Fox Sports 1. The new network will feature live UFC matches, as well as college basketball, football, NASCAR and other events. [Yahoo]

In a battle of titans in the European Champions League, Real Madrid defeated Manchester United, 2-1, at Old Trafford on Tuesday. eliminating the Red Devils from the tournament. United had a 1-0 lead before a controversial red card cost them a player, after which Madrid managed two quick goals to seal the victory. [WSJ]

Albert Pujols is set to make his spring training debut a bit earlier than expected. The Angels first baseman is coming off knee surgery and didn't expect to play until at least mid-March. It's reminiscent of the time in 2011 when Pujols broke his wrist, but was back on the field in top form in two weeks. He's not a normal man. [USA Today]

Lance Armstrong spoke at length with Sports Illustrated, though most of the three-hour sit-down was off the record and he asked not to be quoted during the on-the-record segments. He said that all top riders were doping, and that his techniques weren't exceptional. [S.I.]
