MONTREAL (AP) — The Montreal Canadiens have agreed to a two-year contract extension with forward Dale Weise (wees). He was set to become a restricted free agent July 1 and will reportedly earn a total of $2 million over the next two seasons. The 25-year-old dressed for 16 of Montreal's 17 playoff games and finished with three goals and four assists in a fourth-line role.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Two people familiar with the Buffalo Sabres' decision have told The Associated Press the team has placed forward Ville Leino (VIHL'-ee LAY'-noh) on waivers for the purpose of buying out the remaining three years of his contract.

Leino was set to make $13.5 million over the final three years of a six-year, $27 million contract. Leino had 10 goals and 46 points in 137 games with Buffalo.
