We would like to take a moment and tip our hats to one of the Cheyenne Frontier Days legends who worked hard for the Cheyenne Frontier Days event and rodeo community.

Hadley Barret was 87. During those 87 years, he announced for over 40 years throughout his career in rodeos all over the nation.

He was inducted into the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame in 1999.  He was inducted into the Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City in 2008, and inducted into the Hall of Fame at Cheyenne Frontier Days in 2009. The man was a legend.

He was a member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association since 1965. His voice rang through the speakers at the Sidney (Iowa) Championship Rodeo, The Greeley Stampede, and the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo.

During that time he saw many rodeos come and go. He watched Lane Frost Fall in Cheyenne. The movie ‘8 Seconds’ even uses his voice during the fateful scene.

He was also known as a talented musician in the 1940s, one who played with several greats including Jim Reeves, Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins.

He was born Sept. 18, 1929 in North Platte, Nebraska.

We will miss you, Hadley.
