Achieving in the classroom can be just as rewarding for a student-athlete as excelling on the field or court.

That was the case for a total of 233 University of Wyoming student-athletes, who had a spring semester grade point average of 3.00 or higher.

There ended up being 131 of those individuals with a 3.50 or greater semester GPA and 43 posted perfect 4.00 GPA's for the spring semester.

This equates to 63 percent of the total student-athlete population at UW this past year.

Wyoming Athletics Director Tom Burman said in a university release,

“I want to congratulate the student-athletes first and foremost for their hard work and dedication to excelling in the classroom once again this past semester. Student-athletes have many demands put on their time, and it takes a great deal of discipline to not only manage those demands but to excel academically in addition to athletically.  We are very proud of the way these young men and women represent us in the classroom and in competition."

Burman went on to thank the fantastic work done by their academic support staff and the head coaches.

“I also tip my hat to our coaches for the job they’ve done in identifying the true student-athlete during the recruiting process."

All of Wyoming’s athletic teams had someone on the list of individuals achieving a 3.00 or better semester GPA. A total of 10 different sports were represented on the list of individuals who had a 4.00 GPA.

The 233 student-athletes are pursuing degrees in 63 different majors at UW.
