His time in a Philadelphia Phillies uniform could come to an end soon. If so, Cole Hamels will go out on a high note.

Hamels, who has been rumored to be on the trade market ahead of the July 31 trade deadline, was dominant Saturday, striking out 12 and allowing just two walks. He had to throw 129 pitches, among the higher pitch counts of his career, but picked up the win and the no-hitter as the Phillies prevailed 5-0.

The Cubs hadn't been no-hit since 1965 when another lefty, Sandy Koufax, did it.

The no-hitter is the third in Major League Baseball this year, behind the San Francisco Giants' Chris Heston and the Washington Nationals' Max Scherzer.

The no-hitter is the Phillies' third since 2010 -- only those Giants have more in that time span.

Hamels combined on a no-hitter with three other Phillies pitchers last year.

Hamels was bailed out in part by a pair of difficult plays from centerfielder Odubel Herrera, including a catch made after falling on the warning track for the final out of the game.

It remains to be seen whether Hamels gets dealt before next week's deadline, but with his next start scheduled for Friday, it's possible Saturday's start could be his last game as a member of the Phillies.
