University of Wyoming men’s head basketball coach Allen Edwards picked up a big commitment Monday.

2017 Colorado standout Hunter Maldonado verbally committed to the Cowboys via Twitter Monday night:

The 6-6 guard/forward averaged 22.6 points and 6.9 rebounds per game as a junior last season for Vista Ridge (Colorado). He was named First Team All-State in class 4A in Colorado. Maldonado led the Wolves on a run to the 4A Final 4.

Here's a glimpse of Maldonado in action:

According to the Colorado High School Activities Association's website, CHSAANow.com, Maldonado concluded his junior season in style. He scored 29 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the Great 8 round of the Colorado 4A state tournament. Maldonado followed that up with 37 points and 12 boards in a semifinal loss to eventual Colorado 4A champion Pueblo West.

Currently UW has four players from the state of Colorado on the roster for the 2016-17 season, which includes 2016 ThunderRidge (Colorado) graduate Austin Mueller.
