The dominance of the Wyoming Cowboys’ defense was on full display last Saturday night in the Pokes’ 42-3 victory over New Mexico.

Wyoming forced a school record 7 turnovers, five of which were interceptions. In addition, the defense held New Mexico to 184 total yards of offense. That was the Lobos lowest output since a 2012 game against Texas Tech.

Safety Andrew Wingard had five tackles and two of those interceptions. He discussed their simplified approach.

Sophomore middle linebacker Logan Wilson also talked about the simple approach and how big a deal the win was.

Junior defensive end Carl Granderson had four tackles in the victory. He was credited with half of a sack and 1.5 tackles for loss. Granderson also had an interception, which he returned 37 yards, that set-up Wyoming’s first touchdown. Granderson talked about his INT, his return skills and more.

On the offensive side, junior QB Josh Allen threw for 234 yards and tied a career-high with four touchdown passes. He also added a TD run and 20 yards on the ground. Allen discussed Austin Fort’s big game and the victory in general.

The Cowboys return to the field Saturday, Nov. 4 versus rival Colorado State in the annual Border War. Kick-off is at 5 p.m.
