The University of Wyoming men’s basketball team has earned a postseason berth for the first time since 2009, as the Cowboys accepted an invitation on Sunday to play in the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) presented by Zebra Pen. UW will face North Dakota State on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Wyoming’s Arena-Auditorium.

“I’ve been proud of this team’s hunger and edge since day one, so we look forward to adding another game in the Double A to this season,” UW head coach Larry Shyatt said. “This is a great opportunity for our Wyoming fans to support the program’s first 20-win team in nine years and a well-earned reward for our six seniors this season.”

Cowboy fans may purchase tickets through the Wyoming Athletics Ticket Office by going online at WyomingAthletics.com or by calling 877-WYO-FAN1 (877-996-3261) or 307-766-4850. Tickets are $16 for adults, $8 for youth (3-18) and $5 for UW students. The game will not be televised, but you can listen in live on AM 1030 KTWO.

Wyoming men’s basketball season-ticket holders who wish to reserve their regular seats for this week’s game need to either go directly to the UW Athletics Ticket Office or call. The deadline to reserve season-ticket seats is Noon on the day of the game. Season-tickets seats may not be reserved online.

The Pokes compiled an outstanding resume this season that included a 20-11 overall record for their first 20-win season since 2002-03. Wyoming also featured one of the top scoring defenses in the nation, allowing opponents only 55.5 points per game to rank in the top 10 in the nation.

Wyoming is making its second appearance in the CBI after hosting Northeastern in 2009. This is Wyoming’s 24th appearance in a postseason men’s basketball tournament, including appearing in 14 NCAA Tournaments, eight National Invitation Tournaments (NIT) and now two College Basketball Invitationals. Shyatt also guided Wyoming to the postseason in his first season at UW, with an appearance in the 1998 NIT versus Gonzaga.

Two of the CBI’s eight First Round games will commence on Tuesday with the remaining First Round games being played on Wednesday. The Quarterfinal Round will take place on Monday, March 19 with the Semifinal Round games being played on Wednesday, March 21. The best-of-three Championship Series begins on Monday, March 26. Each game will be played at host schools.
