Six teams involved in the post-season highlight the 2016-17 Wyoming Cowgirls basketball schedule released Wednesday.

The teams that appeared in the post-season were Drake (WNIT), Michigan State (NCAA), South Dakota (WNIT champ) and league foes Colorado State (NCAA), Fresno State (WNIT) and New Mexico (WBI).

The Cowgirls revealed their non-conference slate, which features seven home games in November and December of 2016.

Head coach Joe Legerski said I thought our schedule worked out really well.

“We’re going to be a team in transition… we’re going to need some home games early to let ‘em have some confidence; let ‘em be in familiar surroundings… it’s going to be a challenge for this group. We’re going to have to grow up quickly, and there are some big tests along the way.”

Four of Wyoming’s first six games will be in the Arena-Auditorium. The Cowgirls debut on Friday, Nov. 11 against Chadron State. Denver, Cal-State Fullerton and Adams State also visit in November.

UW has two significant trips in the first month. On Sunday, Nov. 13, the Cowgirls will play at NCAA-participant Michigan State. They also play at Drake on Nov. 27.

Home games in December include Southern Utah, South Dakota and Idaho in the first nine days. There are also trips to Montana and Colorado to wrap up the non-conference schedule.

Mountain West action begins on Thursday, Dec. 29 at Air Force. The league released its slate in June.
