Cubs Pound Rockies 9-1 At Wrigley Field-Daily Sports Update

The Colorado Rockies were ripped by the Chicago Cubs 9-1 Monday night at Wrigley Field. Cubs pitcher Travis Wood tossed 7 scoreless innings and Chicago also had a season high 14 hits. The Rockies fall to 20-18 on the season. Game 2 of the series will  be tonight.

In the NBA playoffs, in the Western Conference semifinals, Memphis now with a 3 games to one lead over Oklahoma City after a 103-97 win Monday night in overtime. Memphis at one time in the game trailed by 17 points and were led in scoring by Mike Conley with 24 points. Oklahoma City was led in scoring by Kevin Durant with 27.

In the Eastern Conference semis, Miami took control of their series with Chicago defeating the Bulls 88-65 to lead 3 games to 1. Lebron James led Miami with 27 points. The Bulls shot just 25 percent from the field.

The Wyoming high school athletic seasons come to a close this weekend with the state track and field meet and state soccer tournaments. Casper Kelly Walsh will host the state track meet starting Thursday. The state soccer tournaments for 4A boys and girls will be played in Rock Springs and the 3A tournaments will be played in Jackson. All four of the Casper teams will be in Rock Springs. On the boys side, Natrona will take on Gillette and Kelly Walsh will play Cheyenne Central. The Natrona girls opens up with Central and Kelly Walsh will play Cheyenne East. First round is Thursday and continues through Saturday.
