Denver Drops Second Straight; Losing To Spurs 100-99-Daily Sports Update

The Denver Nuggets who won 15 straight games have now lost 2 straight. The Nuggets lost to San Antonio 100-99 on Wednesday night. Tim Duncan led the Spurs with 23 points and 14 rebounds. Javale McGee led Denver with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Andre Miller missed a short jumper at the buzzer that could of won it for the Nuggets. San Antonio is currently the top team the NBA's Western Conference, the Nuggets are 3rd.

Also in the NBA from Wednesday night, Miami's 27 game win streak came to an end at the hands of the Chicago Bulls 101-98. Loul Deng led the Bulls with 28 points. Lebron James led Miami with 32.

The NCAA men's basketball tournament moves into the Sweet 16 starting tonight with 4 games. In the West Regional in Los Angeles, 2nd seed Ohio State plays 6th seed Arizona, followed by 9th seeded Wichita State playing LaSalle who is the 13th seed and who won 3 games last week including a play-in game just to get into the tournament itself. In the East Regional in Washington D.C., number 3 Marquette and number 2 Miami will square off in the first game, followed by top seeded Indiana and number 4 Syracuse. The Midwest and South regional semifinals will be played tomorrow night followed by the four regional finals Saturday and Sunday. This year's final four will be held in Atlanta next weekend.

Former Wyoming Cowboy basketball player Amath M'Baye who played this past season at Oklahoma will opt out of his senior year and join the NBA draft. M'Baye was named 3rd team All-Big 12 Conference. He averaged 10 points and 5 rebounds this season for the Sooners. M'Baye left Wyoming after Heath Schroyer was dismissed as head coach.

In the NHL, the Colorado Avalanche lost to Calgary on the road 4-3. Calgary held out their best player Jerome Iginla and then traded him to Pittsburgh. The Av's are 11-17-4 and in last place in the Western Conference.

The Colorado Rockies lost to the Oakland A's 6-5 in spring ball in Arizona. Rockies pitcher and former Casper player Jhoulys Chacin allowed 6 runs and 10 hits over 5 innings of work.
