The Mountain West Conference has announced its 2014-15 Scholar-Athlete Award winners, and the University of Wyoming had 58 student-athletes named to this year’s team. 

            The breakdown by sport of Wyoming’s 2014-15 MW Scholar-Athletes includes: 3 in women’s basketball; 2 football student-athletes; 2 in men’s golf; 4 from women’s golf; 11 in women’s soccer; 10 in women’s swimming and diving; 1 from women’s tennis; 5 from men’s indoor and outdoor track and field and cross country; 14 on women’s indoor and outdoor track and field and cross country; and 6 women’s volleyball student-athletes.

            The Wyoming freshman class led the way with 22 honorees.  There were 18 Wyoming sophomores, 9 seniors and 9 juniors who earned this year’s honor.

            To earn Mountain West Scholar-Athlete honors a student-athlete must have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or better, must have completed at least two academic terms at their current university and must have participated for their respective team.

            All student-athletes on Mountain West Conference sponsored sports teams are eligible for the honor.  The Mountain West sponsors a total of 18 men’s and women’s sports including: baseball; men’s and women’s basketball; men’s and women’s cross country; football; men’s and women’s golf; women’s soccer; softball; women’s swimming and diving; men’s and women’s tennis; men’s and women’s indoor track and field; men’s and women’s outdoor track and field; and women’s volleyball.
