Final 2013 Football Rankings [POLL]

football
Kevin Koile – wyopreps.com

Now that the 2013 regular season is over, the teams will now determine which one is really #1, and not the voters.

Gillette finishes the regular season with an undefeated record and the #1 ranking. Natrona maybe the team to look out for in the post-season. The Mustangs are tied with Sheridan for the #2 spot, and although they are the 4-seed in the playoffs, they beat the Broncs in Sheridan, and all 3 of their losses are by 1 point each. If anyone has improved the most, it maybe them. Their post-season rematch trip, begins with an Oil Bowl rematch, vs. #5 Kelly Walsh.

The top 3 in 3A are unanimous, and for the moment, all signs are pointing to a matchup of undefeated teams in Laramie. Powell is #1, with Douglas at #2 and Star Valley at #3. #4 Cody will be on the road vs. #5 Lander, who has made the top 5 for the first time this season.

The parity seems to have settled some in 2A. Burns finishes the season at #1, with Lovell at #2, Big Horn at #3, and Mountain View at #4. All 4 will have first round home playoff games. Newcastle finally enters the top 5 at #5, and make the long road trip to Mountain View to start the post-season.

The 1A poll finishes with a new #1. Lusk and their 6 straight shutout wins, have finally gotten the attention of the voters, and the Tigers jump over #2 Cokeville, by 1 vote. Southeast secures their hold on #3, while Rocky Mountain and Lingle-Ft. Laramie round out the top 5.

No change at all in the final 6-man rankings. It’s Meeteetse, Dubois, Midwest, Guernsey and Kaycee heading into the playoffs. One interesting note though…of the 3 teams that played 11-man last year, and downgraded to 6-man this year (Saratoga, Wyoming Indian and Normative Services)…none of them made the post-season.
