Final 2014 Wyoming High School Football Rankings

The coaches/media rankings are a guide through the regular season.

Now that the regular season is over, the teams will determine which one is #1.

The interesting thing is that in the first round of the playoffs, the #4 and #5 ranked teams in each class, are playing each other.

The final 4A poll has the same 5 teams as last week, just moved around a little. Natrona is once again the unanimous #1. The Mustangs won their last 4 games via shutout, and the last team to score on them, is their first round opponent, Evanston. Rankings 2-4 are reflective of the 3-way coin toss. East is up #2, Gillette at #3 and Sheridan is #4. Central holds at #5 and will make their second trip to Sheridan this month, for a first round matchup.

The top 4 in 3A are unchanged from last week. Douglas is on top with all but 1 first place vote. That went to Cody who is still ranked #2. Riverton and Jackson hold steady at #3 and #4, while Torrington cracks the final poll. The TrailBlazers are ranked #5, and will blaze their first trail ever to Jackson this weekend, to play a Bronc team, that hasn't hosted a playoff game, since they won the 2007 state championship.

Like 3A, there's no change in the top 4 of 2A either. It's still Big Horn, Mountain View, Newcastle and Wheatland. Lyman and Greybull tie for the #5 ranking, although the Eagles won at Greybull 2 weeks ago. Lyman hosts Wheatland in a week 1 rematch, and Greybull heads to Newcastle, to rematch a Dogie team that beat them by 20, back in week 4.

It's close on top of the 1A ranks, and it could be a sign that last year's state championship game, could happen again. Cokeville hangs on to the #1 ranking, by 1 vote ahead of #2 Lusk, but the 2 teams have other business to attend to, before they can focus on each other. The Panthers host Tongue River, while the Tigers will play Saturday against Riverside, who ended up being the survivor of the tie-breaker game. Lingle-Ft. Laramie is still ranked #3 and Rocky Mountain is still ranked #4. The Grizzlies host #5 Upton-Sundance in a first round playoff game. The Patriots are back in the rankings after about a 1 month absence.

For 6-man, 9 out of 10 voters put Guernsey-Sunrise #1, and Dubois #2, while the other 1 had their votes reversed. Elsewhere Little Snake River moves up to #3, after beating then #3 Farson-Eden last week, and in essence kicked the Pronghorns out of the final rankings. Kaycee is back in at #4, and has a tough first round game hosting #5 and defending state champ Meeteetse.
