The coaches/media rankings were a measuring stick for teams to use during the season.

Now it's time for them to prove which teams really are #1.

The 2A and 1A polls closed for the season last week, and since this is the final week for 4A and 3A, we went ahead and released both boys and girls rankings.

Boys:

The roller coaster in 4A had one more bump in the road. Kelly Walsh retains the #1 ranking, but Gillette is back from the dead to take the #2 spot. The Camels went 1-4 to start conference play (which dropped them out of the top 5), and then went 5-0 after that. KW and Gillette were in the top 2 last year, and ended up playing for the championship, plus did not hook up in the regular season. Could history repeat itself to some degree? Sheridan drops to #3 after last week's home loss, but have a chance to regroup, by hosting the region tournament. Natrona recovers from their 3-game skid, and are back in the rankings at #4. Last week there were 3 teams ranked #5, now there's just 1, and it's in the form of Cheyenne East.

The top 2 in 3A are unanimous. Worland and Rawlins occupy the top 2 spots, and they could clash this weekend at the regional tournament in Rawlins. Actually the top 3 teams will be in Carbon County, because #3 Glenrock is joining the party. Elsewhere, Star Valley takes the #4 rankings heading into the post season, and defending champ Cody is back in at #5.

Girls:

Last week's game big 4A didn't matter too much. Sheridan was down one of their better players and only lost by 3 home vs. Gillette. We can only guess that the voters took that into account, because the Lady Broncs stay at #1, heading into the regional tournament. They also have the home court advantage, and might need it, considering they will probably have to play #3 East and #2 Gillette back-to-back. That is unless something different happens on Friday. The finals rankings are unchanged from last week, meaning Natrona is still #4 and Central is still at #5. The Lady Indians get a chance to atone for last week's loss vs. South, and play the Lady Bison again in a do or die game on Thursday.

There's no change in the final 3A rankings either. Rawlins has the #1 ranking and the #1 seed for the east regional tournament, to be played on their own court. Powell stays at #2, while Douglas, Star Valley and Lovell round out the final rankings.
