Former Wyoming Cowboy quarterback Brett Smith who left school a year early to join the NFL draft has signed a free agent contract with the San Jose Sabercats of the Arena Football League. Smith went undrafted coming out of school and then signed a free agent deal with Tampa Bay. He lasted 3 days with the Bucs and then landed with Toronto of Canadian Football League. He didn't last long there either, now finding a spot as the #3 quarterback on the indoor San Jose team. While at UW, Smith threw for over 8800 yards and 76 touchdowns while running for over 1500 yards and 20 touchdowns.
