Wyoming senior forward Hayden Dalton was named the Mountain West Men’s Basketball Player of the Week Monday by the conference.

This is the second time Dalton has won the honor. He received it last season on Dec. 26, 2016.

Dalton scored a career-best 30 points in the Pokes season-opening victory over Chattanooga last Friday night. He also had 13 rebounds for the 13th double-double of his career. Dalton became the first Cowboy since Afam Muojeke to score 30 or more points in a season opener. Muojeke had 31 points against Bakersfield Nov. 14, 2008.

The senior was the only Wyoming player to play all 40 minutes and only Cowboy to score in double figures in the victory over the Mocs. Dalton finished 9-17 from the floor. He was 5-of-9 from 3-point range and 7-8 at the foul line.

UW returns to action tonight at Oregon State. It’s their first meeting against the Beavers since 2000, and their first trip to Corvallis, OR since 1999. The game is at 9 p.m., Mountain Time, and available on the PAC-12 Network.
