The 25th-ranked Wyoming Cowboys take on the San Diego State Aztecs tonight in a key conference game at the Arena-Auditorium in Laramie.

The Cowboys have won seven straight games on the season and enter with a 15-2 overall mark. They are the only undefeated team in the Mountain West at 4-0. The Pokes have also won 13 straight at the Double-A.

San Diego State has been one of the top teams in the conference over the last decade. They are 12-4 on the season and 2-1 in the league. They haven't played since last Tuesday, so they've had a week to prepare for UW.

This game pits the third (Wyo) and fourth (SDSU) best scoring defenses in the country going head-to-head. The Cowboys give up only 52.2 points per game, while the Aztecs surrender only 53.5 points per game.

KOWB's David Settle asked junior guard Josh Adams if this is their type of game since defense is emphasized so much between the two squads.

Adams said,

"We look at it as every game's our style of game, and we just play Cowboys basketball regardless of who's on the other end of the floor."

Adams went on to say we know their (San Diego State's) defense is built to slow you down and cause turnovers, but we don't panic those situations because that's how we play.

This game will also pit the top field goal percentage offensive team in the MW, Wyoming (50%), against the top field goal percentage defensive team, the Aztecs, who allow only 37 percent shooting.

The Cowboys are led by senior Larry Nance Jr. He is averaging 15.8 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.

San Diego State junior Winston Shepard tops the Aztecs at 11.4 points per game. He adds 4.7 rebounds per outing.

Wyoming has won the last two meetings in Laramie. That included last year's 68-62 victory, where the Pokes knocked off the then 5th-ranked Aztecs and snapped their 20-game win streak.

Overall, UW is 26-8 at home against San Diego State.

The game is set for a 9 p.m. start.
