LOS ANGELES (AP) — Byron Scott says "it's a dream come true" to come back and be the new coach of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Scott, who won three NBA titles as a shooting guard for the Lakers, told KCBS-TV he will take over the club, which hasn't had a coach since Mike D'Antoni (dan-TOH'-nee) resigned April 30.

ESPN.com first reported Scott would take over the Lakers with a four-year, $17 million contract.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Atlanta Hawks forward Paul Millsap was added to Team USA's roster for the training camp that opens Monday in Las Vegas. Millsap averaged 17.9 points last season for Atlanta and was selected to the Eastern Conference All-Star team.

USA Basketball also announced that Jimmy Butler will be unable to participate in the training camp because of a groin injury.

Kevin Love, Blake Griffin, LaMarcus Aldridge and NBA Finals MVP Kawhi (kuh-WY') Leonard recently withdrew from the roster that will be cut to 12 for the FIBA World Cup in Spain.

UNDATED (AP) — LeBron James is returning to the No. 23 that he wore in his first go-around with the Cleveland Cavaliers and during his playing days dating back to high school.

James tweeted that he would wear 23 again after heading back to the Cavaliers from Miami, where he wore No. 6.

About 10 days ago, James turned to social media to help him choose which number he'll wear next season with the Cavaliers.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Only final arguments and a ruling remain in the trial to determine whether Donald Sterling's estranged wife can sell the Los Angeles Clippers to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer for $2 billion.

Lawyers for Sterling plan to argue today that Shelly Sterling had no right to make the deal with Ballmer, even though Donald Sterling had given her written authority to pursue a sale.

The attorneys also say she tricked Donald Sterling into taking mental exams that found he had signs of the onset of Alzheimer's disease.

That finding was sufficient for him to be removed as a trustee of the Sterling Family Trust and allow Shelly Sterling to move forward with the sale of the team.

Later in the process, however, Donald Sterling tried to stop the sale by dissolving the trust.
