UNDATED (AP) — Daniel Briere (bree-EHR') couldn't have picked a better time to score his 300th NHL goal.

Briere scored off a rebound with four-tenths of a second left in Colorado's 2-1 win at Boston. It was the first win of the season for the Avalanche, who opened with back-to-back losses to Minnesota and hadn't scored a goal in their first 143 minutes until Jamie McGinn tallied 3:28 into the second period.

The Bruins have dropped three straight since a season-opening win against the Flyers.
