Former Wyoming Cowboy head basketball coach Steve McClain was named the new head coach for Illinois-Chicago. He served as an assistant at Indiana for the last 5 years and was an assistant at Colorado before that. McClain coached in Laramie for 9 years with 1 NCAA tournament appearance and 3 NIT appearances. That tenure included being named the Mountain West Conference Coach of the Year. His overall record at UW was 157-115 and was fired following the 2007 season after the Pokes went 17-15.
