Chalk up another accomplishment for Larry Nance Jr. With the 27th pick in the first round of the 2015 NBA Draft, Nance was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers.

Nance becomes the first Cowboy to get drafted in 20 years.

“This means the world to me,” Nance said. “All the hard work that has been put in and the time and the effort. Just to hear my name called was surreal. It hasn’t set in yet. And the Lakers are such a historic franchise. Hopefully I can come in with the other guys that were drafted and continue that culture. I’m excited to see what the next step has in store for me.”

The former First-Team All-Mountain West, All-Defensive Team, MW All-Tournament team and co-Defensive Player of the Year finished his Cowboy career in the top 10 of rebounds, blocks, steals and games played.

Nance is also the 28th Cowboy to be selected in the NBA Draft. He is the first to be chosen since Theo Ratliff went 18th to the Detroit Pistons in 1995.
