The Natrona boys and girls basketball teams will begin play today at the State 4A Tournament in Casper. The Mustangs are the two-time defending champions, the Fillies won the consolation championship last year.

The 4A opening round games will be played today and tonight at Casper College with the 3A at the Casper Events Center. The Mustangs (19-6) the champions of the west region open up today at noon against the number four team from the east, Cheyenne East (12-13). Other first round games in the 4A boys has Gillette (22-3) facing Evanston (19-6) at 1:30 pm in that top bracket . On the bottom side of the bracket at 7:30 pm tonight has Star Valley (11-15) taking on Laramie (14-11). And at 9:00 pm, Sheridan (19-6) and Rock Springs (19-6). On the girls side, the Fillies for the second straight year face Gillette in the opening round. Gillette won last year 63-44. Natrona who has won 11 straight comes into the state tournament with a record of 18-6, as the west region champions. Meanwhile Gillette who finished fourth in the east is 17-7. They tip-off at 6:00 pm this evening. The 4A girls gets going this morning at 9:00 with Cheyenne East (18-9) and Evanston (13-12). The other top bracket game has Star Valley (14-10) and Sheridan (20-4) at 10:30. This afternoon, Laramie (20-5) will take on Rock Springs (13-13) at 4:30 pm followed by the Natrona/Gillette game. The 4A games will be played at the Events Center tomorrow. All Natrona games can be heard on AM 1400 ESPN.
