UNDATED (AP) — Different night, same score. For the second straight night, the Oakland Athletics beat Pittsburgh by the identical 2-1 score at PNC Park. That raises the Athletics' all-time record against the Pirates to 11-0. The Pirates have lost four in a row.

Dan Straily pitched two-hit ball into the seventh inning to improve to 6-2. Brandon Moss hit a two-run homer for all the A's scoring.

Grant Balfour closed out the Pirates for his 42nd consecutive save in a streak that goes back to last season. He's 24-for-24 this year.

__The Chicago Cubs topped the L.A. Angels 7-2 behind a pair of home runs by Alfonso Soriano. He has eight homers and 17 RBIs in his last 11 games.

__ St. Louis rocked Houston 9-5 behind a 15-hit attack. Adam Wainwright improved to 12-5 with seven innings of work. Allen Craig had three hits and drove in a pair.

In the AL:

— Alex Rios (REE'-ohs) tied an American League mark with six hits in a nine-inning game and Adam Dunn hit a go-ahead, two-run homer off Justin Verlander in the eighth to lift the Chicago White Sox to an 11-4 win over Detroit. The Tigers' Miguel Cabrera hit his 29th homer to give him a major league high 92 RBIs and .363 batting average.

— One of the hottest teams in baseball right now is the Tampa Bay Rays. They won their season-high sixth in a row, beating Minnesota 4-1. The Twins have lost nine of 10. Chris Archer hurled six strong innings for the win. He's 3-3. Matt Joyce and Kelly Johnson drove in two runs apiece.

— Adrian Beltre (BEHL'-tray) went 4 for 4 with two homers and a season-high five RBIs to help the surging Texas Rangers beat the Baltimore Orioles 8-4. He has 20 homers.

— James Shields wiggled out of early trouble and got home run help from Billy Butler and David Lough as the Kansas City Royals sent the New York Yankees to their third straight loss, 3-1. Shields improved to 4-6. CC Sabathia (suh-BATH'-ee-uh) fell to 9-7 with a complete-game loss.

— Cleveland, which was coming off losing three of four to AL Central-leading Detroit over the weekend, got back on the winning track by blanking Toronto 3-0. Ubaldo Jimenez (oo-BAHL'-doh hih-MEHN'-ehz) and three relievers combined on the eight-hitter.

__ The Boston Red Sox won a slugfest in Seattle, 11-8. David Ortiz, Jackie Bradley Jr., Shane Victorino, Dustin Pedroia (peh-DROY'-uh) and Mike Napoli (NAP'-oh-lee) all went deep for the AL East leaders.

Over in the NL:

— Ricky Nolasco won his debut on the mound for the L.A. Dodgers, who beat Arizona 6-1 to climb within a game of the .500 mark and just two and a-half games back of the NL West-leading Diamondbacks. Nolasco, recently acquired from the Miami Marlins, pitched seven innings and also had two hits and drove in a run. The Dodgers have won 14 of 17.

— Philadelphia doubled up Washington 4-2. Cole Hamels went eight innings of one-run ball to improve to 4-11. Hamels is 14-6 lifetime against the Nationals. The Phils have won three in a row.

— The Atlanta Braves' lead in the NL East is back up to six games over Washington after they beat Miami 6-4. Justin Upton homered, doubled twice and scored three runs to help the Atlanta Braves earn their 27th comeback victory.

— Last-place Milwaukee beat Cincinnati for the second straight night, 2-0 for the Brewers' first complete game in their last 407 starts dating back to 2011, the longest streak in baseball. Wily (WIH'-lee) Peralta tossed a three-hitter on 113 pitches. It's Peralta's first career shutout.

— San Diego nipped Colorado 2-1 to end a 10-game losing streak. Soft-tossing Eric Stultz baffled the Rockies with a four-hitter.

— After going 16 innings Monday night, the New York Mets beat San Francisco 10-6 with a five-run eighth inning. Anthony Recker hit a two-run homer. Daniel Murphy broke an eighth-inning tie with a sacrifice fly. Marlon Byrd's two-out grand slam capped the Mets big eighth inning.

UNDATED (AP) — The Pittsburgh Pirates have placed second baseman Neil Walker on the 15-day disabled list with soreness in his right side and recalled infielder Josh Harrison from Triple-A Indianapolis. Walker is hitting .244 with six home runs and 26 RBIs in 72 games.

— The St. Louis Cardinals have traded struggling reliever Mitchell Boggs to Colorado for the Rockies' international signing bonus slot No. 4. Boggs was 0-3 with an 11.05 ERA in 18 games before being demoted to the minors. St. Louis also released veteran infielder Ty Wigginton and selected the contract of catcher Rob Johnson from Memphis.

— New York Mets pitcher Shaun Marcum will have season-ending surgery on his right hand. Marcum experienced tingling and numbness in his hand during a 7-6 loss at Milwaukee on Saturday night.
