UNDATED (AP) — The top-seeded Pittsburgh Penguins looked every bit the favorite they are to reach the Eastern Conference finals by routing the Ottawa Senators 4-1 in the opener of that conference semifinal series.

Paul Martin and Chris Kunitz scored power-play goals and Pascal Dupuis (paz-KAHL' doo-PWEE') added his sixth goal of the playoffs

In the fourth all-California playoff series in NHL history, the Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings blanked San Jose 2-0. It's the Kings' 11th straight win at Staples Center. Jonathan Quick made 35 saves in his sixth career shutout.

DALLAS (AP) — The Dallas Stars have fired coach Glen Gulutzan after he failed to lead them to the playoffs for his two years on the job. The Stars were 64-57-9 under Gulutzan, including 22-22-4 in the lockout-shortened 2013 season. Dallas has missed the post-season for a franchise record five straight years.
