The high school basketball season tipped off over the weekend with tournaments across the state. The Kelly Walsh teams were in the Riverton Invitational with the boys 2-1 and the girls going 2-1. The Trojans lost to Cheyenne South to open the season 62-27 on Thursday but bounced back on Friday to defeat Sheridan 52-48 and followed that up with a 52-40 win over Laramie. The Lady Trojans started out play in Riverton with a 51-45 win over South on Thursday, a 47-33 defeat to Sheridan on Friday and rallied to beat Laramie on Saturday 49-48.

The Natrona teams were in the Gillette Invitational and the Mustangs went 0-3 while the Fillies 1-2. For the boys, NC lost to Scottsbluff on Thursday 86-66, then a 65-41 loss to Gillette on Friday and concluded the tournament with a 68-52 loss to Rapid City Central. The NC Fillies started out the season on Thursday with a 58-45 loss to Bismarck, followed by a 57-55 win over Gillette on Friday and wrapped up the tournament with a 60-55 loss to Rapid City Central.

KW and NC will meet up with schools from Billings on Friday and Saturday. The girl's games will be in Casper and the boys games will be up in Montana.
