Top ranked Natrona hung on to defeat Gillette 20-17 inCasperto claim the top seed in the upcoming 4A playoffs. The Mustangs picked up the win despite not scoring in the second half and giving up over 400 yards to the Camels.

 

The Camels missed a last second field goal to tie it at 20. Natrona’s defense came in  giving up just under 100 yards per game, but the Camels rolled up 435 yards as quarterback Austin Fort threw for 320 yards on 24 of 47 passing and 1 touchdown to Cody Kelley. Taylor Bigelow rushed for 64 yards and one touchdown.

 

For Natrona, they totaled 343 yards with 215 yards rushing led by Josh Flanigan with 154 yards. Flanigan also caught a 78 yard pass for a touchdown from quarterback Brecken Biggs. But one of the big plays of  the game occurred when Gillette was lining for a 30 yard field goal in the second quarter when Thomas Myler of the Mustangs blocked the attempt and picked up by Isaac Cooper who raced in for the 84 yard touchdown.

The Mustangs are 9-0 and will host a quarterfinal game. The Camels 8-1 will also host a quarterfinal game next Friday.
