Rangers Romp Avs 5-1 – NBA Roundup For Feb. 4th

UNDATED (AP) — The Boston Bruins continued their recent hot streak while avenging an early-season loss at Vancouver.

Milan Lucic (LOO'-cheech) and Jarome Iginla (ih-GIHN'-luh) each had a goal and an assist as the Bruins won for the sixth time in seven games, downing the Canucks 3-1. Lucic opened the scoring 5:12 into the game before Iginla notched the game-winner on a power play in the second period. Tuukka (TOO'-kah) Rask stopped 27 shots and blanked Vancouver after Raphael Diaz tallied midway through the game.

The Canucks suffered their fifth straight loss in regulation.

Also on ice:

— Kyle Turris scored once in regulation before providing the deciding goal in the fifth round of a shootout to lift Ottawa past St. Louis 5-4. The Blues had a season-high 50 shots but squandered a two-goal cushion in the third period and lost at home to an Eastern Conference team for the first time in 10 games this season.

— Calgary's five-game winning streak ended as Rene Bourque provided the game-winner in the second period of Montreal's 2-0 shutout of the Flames. Carey Price turned back 26 shots for his fourth shutout of the season.

— The New York Rangers have a season-high four-game winning streak after Ryan Callahan scored twice in the first period of a 5-1 romp over Colorado. Callahan also had an assist and Henrik Lundqvist topped 27 shots for his 297th win, four shy of Mike Richter's club record.

— Winnipeg beat Carolina 2-1 on Chris Thorburn's goal with 63 seconds remaining. Andrew Ladd also scored as the Jets improved to 9-2 since Paul Maurice took over as coach on Jan. 12.

— Florida scored three times in the final period to knock off Toronto 4-1. Brian Campbell had a goal and an assist as the Panthers halted a three-game skid and handed the Maple Leafs just the second regulation loss in their last 13 games.

— Evgeni Nabokov (nah-BAH'-kahv) stopped 22 shots and the New York Islanders ended a five-game losing streak by downing the Capitals 1-0 in Washington. Andrew MacDonald scored the lone goal early in the third period as the Isles handed the Caps their 10th loss in 13 games.

— Darcy Kuemper (KEHM'-pur) made 34 saves and Jared Spurgeon set up two goals in his return from injury as Minnesota nipped Tampa Bay 2-1. Nino Niederreiter (NEE'-dur-eye-tur) and Dany (DAN'-ee) Heatley scored for the Wild, who've gone 6-3-2 while Kuemper has made the team's last 11 starts in goal.

— Antoine Roussel (roo-SEHL') scored the go-ahead goal early in the third period of the Dallas Stars' 3-1 win at Phoenix. Kari Lehtonen (KAH'-ree LEH-toh-nehn) stopped 26 shots in the Stars' second straight win.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Former Philadelphia Flyers head coach and general manager Keith Allen has died at age 90.

Allen coached the Flyers during their first three seasons, winning the West Division in their inaugural campaign. He became the GM in December 1969 and transformed the franchise into the Broad Street Bullies who won back-to-back Stanley Cups in the 1970s and went to the finals three straight years.

Allen was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1992.
