UNDATED (AP) — The Philadelphia Phillies have authored the fourth no-hitter of the major league season, and they needed four pitchers to do it.

Cole Hamels combined with three relievers on the Phillies' first no-hitter since 2010, doing it in a 7-0 shutout of the Braves in Atlanta. It was the first combined no-hitter in Phillies history, and the 12th overall.

Hamels struck out seven, walked five and threw 108 pitches in six innings before Jake Diekman, Ken Giles and closer Jonathan Papelbon (PAP'-ul-bahn) each pitched a perfect inning of relief.

Ben Revere provided a bases-loaded triple and five RBIs for the Phillies.

The outcome drops the Braves 1 ½ games behind Milwaukee for the second National League wild-card berth.

Atlanta also is seven games behind the NL East-leading Nationals after Denard Span hit two of Washington's four homers and had three RBIs in a 6-4 win over the Dodgers in Los Angeles. Jayson Werth and Asdrubel (as-DROO'-bul) Cabrera also went deep to help Gio Gonzalez win for the first time in 10 starts.

The San Francisco Giants split a doubleheader of sorts to climb within two games of the NL West-leading Dodgers. Hunter Pence hit a tiebreaking double in the eighth as the Giants beat Colorado 4-2 in a game that was suspended by rain in the bottom of the sixth on May 22.

Pence and Brandon Crawford each had three RBIs in the regularly-scheduled game, but the Giants blew a 7-2 lead and lost 10-9 to the Rockies. San Francisco tied it with a two-run ninth before Charlie Blackmon ended it with an RBI single in the bottom half.

The Brewers lost their share of the NL Central lead with a 4-2 loss to the Cubs in Chicago. Wellington Castillo hit a two-run homer and had three RBIs, while Luis Valbuena (vahl-BWAY'-nuh) also went deep. Rookie sensation Jorge Soler had two doubles in his home debut as the Cubs pushed the Brewers one game behind St. Louis.

The Cardinals have sole possession of the NL Central lead for the first time all season following a 5-4 win over Pittsburgh. Matt Holliday had three RBIs, including a tiebreaking, single in the bottom of the seventh after pinch-hitter Kolten Wong tied it with a two-run homer.

The Pirates had leads of 3-0 and 4-2 before falling three games behind the Redbirds.

Oakland ended a four-game skid as Adam Dunn hit a two-run homer in his first at-bat with the Athletics to ignite a 6-1 win over Seattle. Dunn went 2 for 3 just a day after being acquired from the Chicago White Sox.

The A's strengthened their hold on the first AL wild-card slot and dropped the Mariners 1 ½ games behind Detroit for the AL's second wild-card berth.

Kansas City kept its half-game lead over the second-place Tigers in the American League Central. Salvador Perez hit a two-run homer and an RBI double to give the Royals a 3-0 lead in a 4-3 victory over Texas. Yordano Ventura gave up two earned runs and five hits over 6 1/3 innings before Greg Holland worked a perfect ninth for his 41st save.

Detroit crushed Cleveland 12-1 as Miguel Cabrera was 4-for-5 with two homers, three RBIs and four runs scored. Pinch-hitter Tyler Collins belted a three-run homer and David Price worked seven innings as the Tigers stretched their lead over Seattle in the battle for the final AL wild-card berth.

In other major league action:

— Joe Mauer capped his four-RBI afternoon with a tiebreaking, two-run single in the eighth inning as Minnesota beat Baltimore 6-4 to avoid a four-game sweep. Nelson Cruz hit his major league-leading 36th homer and Nick Hundley launched a three-run blast for the Orioles, whose lead in the AL East shrunk to 8 ½ games over the New York Yankees.

— Giancarlo Stanton hit his 34th home run and the Miami Marlins scored three runs in the eighth inning to beat the New York Mets 9-6. Marcell Ozuna (oh-ZOO'-nuh) and Casey McGehee (muh-GEE') finished with two RBIs each for the Marlins.

— Tyson Ross is 13-12 after striking out eight while allowing a run and six hits in six innings of San Diego's 3-1 win over Arizona. Cory Spangenberg hit a two-run single to put the Padres ahead 3-0 in the fifth.

— Tampa Bay beat Boston 4-3 on Matt Joyce's RBI single in the bottom of the 10th. Evan Longoria hit a two-run single to help the Rays gain a split of the four-game series.

HOUSTON (AP) — Bo Porter's run as Houston manager is over before he could complete his second season. He's been fired with the team mired in fourth place in the five-team AL West. The Astros have the second-worst record in the league and are 25 games out of first place. However, general manager Jeff Luhnow says the decision wasn't based on Houston's record but on a need for a new direction in the clubhouse.

Tom Lawless takes over as interim manager through the end of the season. He's been working in the Astros minor league system.

Bench coach Dave Trembley was also let go.
