The Wyoming Cavalry opened up the 2012 season with a resounding loss to the Colorado Ice Sunday afternoon 72-37 in Fort Collins. Colorado owned the first half and  led 41-13, a lead the Cavs could never recover.

The 4A West Regional Basketball Tournament begins on Thursday at Riverton High School. The Kelly Walsh teams will play that opening night. The fourth seeded Lady Trojans (7-16) will play fifth seeded Green River (6-15) at 7:00pm.

It's the annual Peach Basket Classic Thursday night at Swede Erickson Gym at Casper College as Natrona will take on Kelly Walsh. The girls game tips off at 6:00 with the boys game at 7:30pm with both games on AM 1400 ESPN.

The Casper schools were on the road over the weekend. The Kelly Walsh boys split with a 41-40 win at Rock Springs on Friday night, but lost at Riverton on Saturday afternoon, 54-50.

The Denver Nuggets lost a tough one on the road Sunday night to Oklahoma City 124-118. Wyoming Cowboys lose at CSU, and the Cowgirls beat CSU at home on Saturday.

The Casper and Glenrock boys and girls basketball teams will be action this weekend. AM 1400 ESPN will cover both the girls and boys games with KW tonight and NC tomorrow afternoon at Rock Springs.

The Natrona Mustangs and Fillies picked up West Conference wins Thursday night over Riverton. The Mustangs beat the Wolverines 70-58, and the Fillies remain unbeaten with a 90-15 victory.

High school basketball from over the weekend, the Natrona Fillies remain unbeaten with two wins over Evanston and Green River. And the Kelly Walsh girls also picked up a couple of wins over Evanston and Green River.

The Wyoming Cowboys and Cowgirls both lost to New Mexico on Saturday in Mountain West Conference action. The Cowboys lost a first half lead at The Pit to the Lobos 48-38, and the Cowgirls came up short at the AA 60-57.

Area high school basketball teams are in action tonight. The Natrona and Kelly Walsh girls are home to Evanston and Green River, and the NC and KW boys take the road trip west this weekend to Evanston and Green River.
