Thanks to some great defense the Kelly Walsh Trojans traveled to Evanston and captured a big win in 4A  football.

After a slow defensive battle in the 1st quarter, the Trojan defense set a tone for the remainder of the evening with a safety at 4:58 in the second quarter. The defense led by senior John Fabrizius shut down the Red Devil offense to maintain the 2-0 lead.

Just before the half  Tanner Fischer connected on a 23 yard field goal to push the lead to 5 - 0. That's where the score stood at the half.  Things got crazy in the 3rd quarter as Evanston put together a drive that consumed 8:00 minutes off the clock and with the help of penalties ran 8 plays from the 12 yard line, but the Mighty Trojan defense bent but did not break, keeping the Red Devils out of the end zone.

Clay Carlson, Michael Goodman, Alex Olson, Mark Mitchell, John Fabrizius, Kooper Adams, Bret Andrew, Tanner Bekke, Marco Sanchez, Kirk Durtsche and Austin Sullins held the Red Devils on 4th and one from the 1yard line. Thus the Defense were the players of the game.

On the next offensive play from the Trojan one, Talen Markovich ran 99 yards to push the lead to 16 - 0, the PAT was good making the score 17-0. The Trojans level their record at 1-1 with a strong showing in Evanston and go home to face Laramie next week.

Congrats to Kelly Walsh on a big road win!
