UNDATED (AP) — On the final day of action before the four-day All-Star break, the San Francisco Giants made some baseball history.

Madison Bumgarner became the first pitcher in 48 years to hit two grand slams in a season, and Buster Posey also hit a slam in the Giants' 8-4 win over Arizona. Posey and Bumgarner are the first batterymates in major league history to hit grand slams in the same game.

Posey connected in the fifth and Bumgarner homered the next inning. Bumgarner also hit a slam on April 11 against Colorado.

The last pitcher to launch two slams in a season was Tony Cloninger (KLAHN'-ihn-jur), for Atlanta in 1966

In other baseball:

— Jayson Werth tormented his former team with home run and four runs batted in as the Nationals beat the Phillies 10-3. Ryan Zimmerman and Ian Desmond also drove in two runs apiece. Werth also homered and drove in three runs in Washington's victory over the Phils Saturday night.

— Chris Johnson had three hits, including his third homer in two days, and the Atlanta Braves beat the Chicago Cubs 10-7. The Braves enter the All-Star break a percentage point back of Washington in the National League East.

— Kris Negron hit his first career home run, a three-run shot, and All-Star Todd Frazier added a two-run homer as the Cincinnati Reds beat the Pirates 6-3. The Reds went 8-3 on their 11-game home stand against Central Division opponents Milwaukee, the Cubs and Pittsburgh. The Pirates completed a seven game road trip 2-5.

— Elian Herrera got five hits while filling in for mourning shortstop Jean Segura and the Milwaukee Brewers ended a seven-game losing streak by routing the St. Louis Cardinals 11-2. The Brewers tied a season high with 19 hits and took a one-game lead over St. Louis in the NL Central at the All-Star break. Segura is away from the team after the death of his infant child.

— For the second straight day the L.A. Dodgers blanked San Diego 1-0. Hyun-Jin Ryu (hee-YUHN'-jihn YOO) struck out 10 and outpitched first-time All-Star Tyson Ross. Yasiel Puig (yah-SEEL' pweeg) singled home the only run in the sixth.

— Eric Hosmer's (HAHS'-murz) RBI double capped a five-run seventh inning and Kansas City avoided a four-game sweep with a 5-2 victory over the Detroit Tigers. Four of the runs were charged to Justin Verlander, who fell to 8-8. The come-from-behind win leaves the second-place Royals 6½ games behind the Tigers in the AL Central. Since June 18 when K.C. beat the Tigers for their 10th straight win and went a season-best seven games over .500, the Royals have gone 9-14 while the Tigers went 17-6.

— Clay Buchholz (BUHK'-ohlts) allowed three hits and struck out a career-high 12 in his fifth career shutout as the Red Sox blanked the Astros 11-0. Brock Holt had a career-best five hits, including a leadoff homer, to help the Red Sox to their fourth victory in five games heading into the All-Star break.

— No question the team that goes into the All-Star break needing a rest is the Texas Rangers, who have the worst record in the majors at 38-57 after their eighth straight defeat, 10-7 to the L.A. Angels. The Angels, a major league-best 26-9 since June 6, swept a four-game series against Texas for the first time in their history.

— Sonny Gray limited the Seattle Mariners to just six hits and one unearned run and the Oakland Athletics earned a 4-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners. Gray earned his 10th victory and Sean Doolittle recorded the final four outs for his 14th save.

—The Indians beat the White Sox 3-2 as Yan Gomes hit a two-run home run in the home-half of the eighth inning. Gomes drove in all three Cleveland runs. The Indians enter the break with a .500 record while the Sox are six games under the .500 mark.

— The Mets wrapped up the first half on a run with three wins in a row. They stopped the Marlins 9-1 to reach the All-Star break with a record of 45-50. The Marlins have lost four straight and are 44-50. David Wright drove in two runs for the victorious Mets.

— Brian Dozier cranked up for the Home Run Derby at the All-Star game with two homers and the Minnesota Twins beat the Colorado Rockies 13-5.

— Tampa Bay got a win in its last game before the break, beating the Blue Jays 3-0. All-Star David Price scattered five hits in eight-plus innings to win his fourth consecutive start. Because Price pitched on Sunday, he is ineligible to play in the All-Star game Tuesday night in Minnesota. His roster spot was taken by his former teammate, Seattle closer Fernando Rodney. The Jays are 49-46 while the Rays are 44-53.

— Chris Davis hit a two-run homer to back a strong pitching effort by Kevin Gausman, and the Baltimore Orioles beat the New York Yankees 3-1 Sunday night in a game called by rain after 4 1/2 innings following after a delay of 2 hours, 22 minutes. The Orioles scored all their runs in the fourth inning and Gausman (4-2) got three straight outs in the fifth. After Steve Pearce drew a walk in the bottom half, the rain came.

National League roster changes

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — San Francisco's Tim Hudson, Cincinnati's Alfredo Simon, San Diego's Huston Street and Washington's Tyler Clippard have been added to the National League roster for Tuesday's All-Star game. They replace a quartet of pitchers who started Sunday: the Giants' Madison Bumgarner, the Reds' Johnny Cueto (KWAY'-toh), the Padres' Tyson Ross and the Atlanta Braves' Julio Teheran (TEH'-rahn).

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Texas Rangers prospect Joey Gallo showed off his power with a soaring two-run homer in the sixth inning to give the U.S. team the lead for good in a 3-2 victory over the World squad Sunday at the All-Star Futures Game for baseball's best minor leaguers.

Gallo's one-out drive to right field off Houston Astros right-hander Michael Feliz was estimated at 419 feet. The 20-year-old third baseman for Double-A Frisco hit several other balls farther than that during a head-turning batting practice display at Target Field.

The assumed successor for four-time All-Star Adrian Beltre (BEHL'-tray) with the Rangers, Gallo has 31 homers and 73 RBIs this season in 85 games.
