Wyoming Cowgirls Seek 5th Straight Win
The Wyoming Cowgirls return to action tonight, as they are on the road at the Fresno State Bulldogs. The Cowgirls are going for their fifth consecutive win in Mountain West Conference action.
Wyoming defeated Fresno State 87-76 in Laramie last month. The Cowgirls had only nine turnovers against the Bulldogs pressure. That was a key reason why UW held a double figure lead over the final 29 minutes in that win.
That is a focus going into tonight's match-up.
Junior guard Kaitlyn Mileto says, "We have to come out with the same confidence (we had in the win earlier this season). Our coaches are going to set us up for success, and we've just got to make the right passes and find the open people. I think that's what we did really, really well here, is that we found the open person each and every time, and we made the correct passes and made them with confidence. So, I think that's going to be our biggest key."
Turnovers were the difference in Wyoming's last visit to Fresno. They lost 61-47 out there last year. Twenty-four Cowgirls turnovers led to 29 Bulldogs points. That is why there's a big emphasis on taking care of the ball tonight.
UW is just 2-5 all-time in Fresno. Their last victory there was back in 1996.
The Cowgirls are only a half-game ahead of the Bulldogs in the MWC standings.
The game is set for an 8 p.m. start, Mountain Time, from Fresno, CA.
