Wyoming Football Faces a Nemesis in Nebraska [VIDEOS]

After that amazing season opener, the Wyoming Cowboys will try to focus on their next step which is Saturday at Nebraska.

Both teams are 1-0 on year after victories last week. The Pokes had their triple OT, 40-34 win over Northern Illinois, while the Cornhuskers took care of Fresno State, from the Mountain West, 43-10. They did so with 22 points in the fourth quarter.

Wyoming has never achieved victory against the Huskers. They are 0-7 all-time, but almost pulled off a comeback in 2013. The Cowboys fell short in a 37-34 defeat, though they scored the final 13 points. UW amassed 602 total yards of offense in that game.

The Pokes are coming off a balanced game in their opening win. UW ran for 243 yards and passed for 245. That total of 488 yards surpassed what Nebraska put up last week at 404. The difference was the Cornhuskers defense surrendered only 276 yards.

Head coach Craig Bohl knows there were plenty of highs from last Saturday night’s game, but also lots of room for improvement. As for Nebraska, Bohl broke down their team and knows there’s plenty to prepare for.

One area Coach Bohl would love to see decrease a lot is penalties. He was asked how they go about correcting those mistakes.

The Cowboys had ten penalties for 100 yards in the win over NIU.

As for current ties between Wyoming and Nebraska. There are four UW players that are natives of the state. Of course, Coach Bohl played and coached there, as did Wyoming defensive coordinator Steve Stanard and receivers coach Mike Grant. That’s just to name a few.
