A few late-season fireworks highlight the schedule of the last week of the regular season for 4A and 3A, according to the latest coaches and media ranks.

A huge battle is schedule for Friday night as unanimous #1 Sheridan hosts unanimous #2 Gillette. These 2 teams went OT at Gillette, 3 weeks ago, with the Lady Broncs coming out on top. The rematch though either just got more interesting or had some thunder taken out, when the Sheridan Press reported that junior Robbi Ryan will not play in the upcoming rematch. All of the 4A rankings are the same as they have been the past few weeks, with East at #3, followed by Natrona and Central.

Rawlins still rules the roost in 3A, and hosts the East regional tournament next week, so everything is on their side. Powell moves up to #2, after then #2, now #4 Lovell took a tumble last week. The Lady Bulldogs are hoping to get that spot back, when they visit the Lady Panthers this weekend. Elsewhere Douglas moves up 1 to #3 and Star Valley holds at #5.

For 2A and 1A, these are the final polls, now that it’s post-season time.

Southeast finishes the regular season as the unanimous #1 team in 2A. The Lady Cyclones are the only undefeated team in the state and should face some very tough competition at the regional tournament. Joining them is #4 Pine Bluffs, and #5 Burns, and you can't count out unranked and 2-time defending state champ Tongue River either. In the west, #2 Lyman and #3 Thermopolis are on opposite sides of the bracket. They may face each other in the regional finals.

No change at all in the final 1A rankings. Cokeville is the unanimous #1, followed by Little Snake River, who was 1 vote better than #3 Upton. St. Stephens is still #4 and has one of the best scoring offenses in the state, but the regional tournament will determine just how good they really are, because they will probably have to go through both LSR and Cokeville, if they want the West #1 seed at the state tournament. Meanwhile, #5 and defending champ Lingle-Ft. Laramie could give Upton a challenge at the East regional tournament...if the 2 teams hook up.
