Wyoming’s Jordan Charles Just Misses Qualifying for NCAA’s

The Wyoming track and field season wrapped up last weekend, as no one qualified for the NCAA Championships in Eugene, OR.

Junior Jordan Charles narrowly missed out in the 110-meter hurdles last Saturday. His time of 13.95 in Lawrence, KS fell short by three-hundredths of a second. He finished in 13th place, and only the top 12 advance to the championships next week.

Charles also ran the 400-meter hurdles last Friday in 55.00 for 44th place.

As for other UW student-athletes on Friday, senior Tyler Anderson came in 23rd in the hammer throw with his best toss of 199 feet-2 inches. Senior Sabina Sandberg placed 26th in the high jump and cleared 5-7 1/4. The next best finisher was senior McKenzie Brogan, who was 31st in the 400-meter hurdles. Her time was 59.86. Freshman Bryce Ailshie came in 35th in the 800 meters at 1:51.68.

Sophomore Garrett Lynch took 40th in the discus Saturday. His top throw was 160 feet-8 inches.

It was a tough outcome for junior Audra DeStefano. She did not run the steeplechase last Friday due to a foot injury.

Wyoming head coach Bryan Berryhill said in a release from UW, “This has been a challenging season, especially during outdoor with the weather, but I’m proud of our kids’ resolve and what they were able to accomplish.”

The NCAA West Preliminary in Lawrence, KS had all its events postponed last Thursday because of weather. Friday’s schedule was partially affected by weather.
