It is was monumental day for the New York Yankee's manager, Joe Girardi. Tonight's game marked his 600th managerial victory which ended a five-game losing streak that had placed the Yankees in fourth place in the American League East (AL East).

Second baseman, Robinson Cano drove in the Yankees’ first three runs with two home runs off the Twins' starting pitcher Scott Diamond and ignited the eighth-inning spark that allowed the Yankees to regain the lead for good.

This was also the first time since the losing streak began the Yankees had cause to use relief pitcher Mariano Rivera, who in a non-save situation pitched a scoreless ninth, following a shutout inning apiece by pen pals David Robertson, Joba Chamberlain and Shawn Kelley.

Congratulations are in order!
