Hearn Takes 2nd at Greenbrier Classic

– Former University of Wyoming Cowboy golfer David Hearn notched his highest career finish last week tying for second at The Greenbrier Classic on the Old White TPC course at the Greenbrier Sporting Club. Hearn was one of 156 golfers to make the cut to 70 players after the first 36 holes of play on the par 70, 7,287-yard course.

Hearn finished the tournament with a tally of 267 (-13), tied for second with two others after falling short in four-way playoff. He fired a first round of 68 (-2) and shot a second of 64 (-6), which was his lowest 18-hole score for the season. Hearn shot a third round of 68 (-2) and final of 67 (-3).

Hearn wasn’t the only former Cowboy out on the course but fellow teammate Kurt Kowaluk was caddy for Danny Lee who won the four-way playoff against Hearn.

Hearn, a native of Brampton, Ontario, was a member of the Cowboy golf team from 1997-2001. He was a First Team All-Mountain West selection in 2001 and qualified for NCAA Regionals three times. Hearn will join the 2015 Hall of Fame class on Friday, Sept. 4. He will be inducted with seven other athletes and the 1980-81 WAC champion men’s basketball team.
