The defending 4A state champion Sheridan Broncs advanced to semifinals with a 35-14 win over the Kelly Walsh Trojans Friday night at Sheridan. The Broncs (8-2)  who are the top rushing team in the state, ran the ball for 276 yards on 40 carries. The were led by runningback Nate Kane with 123 yards on 12 carries and one touchdown. Quarterback Kevin Bakkehaug had 75 yards on 15 carries and two touchdowns. He also threw a 13 yard touchdown pass to Nick Gill. Bakkehaug was 10 of 14 for 90 yards.  The Broncs had a total of 367 yards.

For the Trojans (4-6), it was a case of not being able to run the ball and falling behind that they had to throw it and they did. Quarterback Jacob Tapp was 22 of 38 passing with one interception for 202 yards and one touchdown, that to Tanner Fischer for 31 yards. Dan Gochenour was the top receiver for the Trojans with 9 receptions for 70 yards.  The Bronc defense held the Trojans to just 60 yards rushing. They held runningback John Fabrizius to 35 yards on 10 carries. The Trojans finished with 262 yards in total offense.

The Broncs travel to Gillette for one of the 4A semifinals next Friday night. The other semifinal has Natrona hosting Cheyenne East. The NC/East matchup can be heard on AM 1400 ESPN.
